As millions of stars glowed through the night, the Country Cat Family goes to sleep early. King Tam and Winkie, the parents (see them to your left), daughter Carmella and son Palamino (see above) all dream of the same thing--SPRING!
For example, King Tam dreams of fishing in the lake in the woods! It is "brimming" with big fat fish that will make wonderful fish dinners for family and friends.
Carmella dreams of the bright flowers and swatting the flying bugs that land on them. "Maybe they like the smell too," she thinks.
Palamino dreams of the woods deep behind the house. There he will sit on the fence post and watch the birds. "What then?" he thinks to himself. "What then?"

But Palamino and Carmella really did NOT know what to expect when they all got to go outside tomorrow. They never in their whole lives had been outside.

Only Winkie and King Tam, that is, Mom and Dad, knew that big world of animals Palamino and Carmella had only heard about: dogs, birds, racoons, foxes. bears and much more. Mom and Dad would be watching over them this trip out.

Nothing could go wrong. Right? We will see in our next chapter. But for now... Winkie dreams of cooking the fish that King Tam catches for the whole family!
